In the year ending September 2008, there were 19,505 Malaysian visitor arrivals, a 3.4 per cent decrease on the previous year. This number is expected to rise on average by 2.1 per cent annually between 2008 and 2014.

Stabilizing after a significant decline in 2006, there were 19,716 arrivals from Malaysia in 2007, Although 1.4% lower than the previous year, 2007 saw the continuation of a seasonal pattern with peaks over both March to May and November/December. Traditionally, January experiences the lowest arrival numbers from Malaysia.
