New Board Chair for Tourism New Zealand

Paul Brock has been appointed as Tourism New Zealand’s new Board Chair. 

“Tourism is an important contributor to New Zealand and the sector is undergoing significant change as it recovers from the impact of the global pandemic and transitions to more regenerative way of operating that benefits our home and people. Paul’s skills and experience will be valuable to the organisation and the sector, as this is navigated and achieved,” says Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive, René de Monchy.  

“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank outgoing Chair, Jamie Tuuta for the commitment and leadership he has shown in guiding Tourism New Zealand. He leaves the organisation in a great shape with preference for New Zealand as a destination high, increased organisational cultural capability and confidence and increased authentic cultural storytelling through its marketing of Aotearoa New Zealand.”   

Jamie Tuuta of Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Maru, Te Ati Awa, Taranaki Tūturu descent, is an experienced Director with extensive governance experience across various industries and sectors. Jamie joined the Tourism New Zealand Board in 2013 and was appointed Chair in 2019.   

Paul Brock brings a wealth of skills and experience to the board. Paul has a strong background in governance, management, growth business development, brand development and marketing. His extensive background in the financial services industry has also included Kiwibank Co-Founder and then Chief Executive along with senior management positions with Westpac and Trust Bank.  
   
Paul is currently Chair of the New Zealand Story Group, Foley Wines, Massey University Business School Advisory Board and the Innovation Programme for Tourism Recovery Advisory Panel. He is also an independent director and incoming Chair of Chubb Life Insurance New Zealand and a director Southern Sky Dairies. He will start as the Tourism New Zealand Board Chair on 1 July.
